Job brief
The Associates-Accounting is responsible for supporting the firm's client service functions of accounting and bookkeeping by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing accounting schedules, assisting with financial statements, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards. The role requires a detail-oriented individual who is IT literate and proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office suites.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Prepare annual business development plan and initiative
· Maintain accurate accounting records and prepare journal entries.
· Perform bank, debtor, creditor, and general ledger reconciliations.
· Prepare monthly and year-end accounting schedules and supporting documentation.
· Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
· Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions where required.
· Prepare and submit statutory returns, including VAT and other regulatory filings, where applicable.
· Assist audit teams by providing accounting records and supporting documentation for client engagements.
· Use accounting and audit software to process financial information and maintain client records.
· Ensure client records are complete, accurate, and maintained confidentially.
· Assist with internal and external audit engagements.
· Perform accounting and administrative projects as assigned among other cognate duties
Skills and Qualification
· Diploma or Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Working towards completion of a professional accounting body syllabus (ACCA. ICEAW ...) will be an advantage.
· 1–3 years' experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or within an audit firm is preferred.
· Working knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS.
· IT literates with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and accounting software.
· Experience using accounting software or ERP systems (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, Pastel, SAP, or similar).
· Familiarity with audit software and data analysis tools is an advantage.
· Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
· Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
· Ability to manage multiple client assignments and meet deadlines.
