Field Operations
 • Conduct land preparation (ploughing, ripping, harrowing, levelling, furrowing/row marking) as per planting plan.
 • Assist with landscaping operations.
 • Perform mechanical weed control with appropriate implements.
 • Apply fertiliser, soil amendments, and herbicides using tractor-mounted equipment as scheduled.
 • Support harvesting logistics: haul harvested cane from field edge to loading zones/collection points and coordinate with loaders/contractors.
 • Transport water, fuel bowsers, tools, and materials to/from fields as required.

Equipment Care & Basic Maintenance
 • Complete pre-start inspections (fuel, oil, coolant, hydraulics, tyres, brakes, lights, horn, PTO, hitch points).
 • Keep tractor and implements clean, greased, and secured report defects immediately.
 • Perform basic upkeep (tightening, greasing, cleaning filters) and record maintenance in logbook.
 • Safely fit, attach, and detach implements (trailers, harrows, sprayers, spreaders). 

Safety, Compliance & Record-Keeping
 • Follow Mont Choisy HSE rules, traffic plans, speed limits, and PPE requirements at all times.
 • Adhere to safe operating procedures in fields, on estate roads, and near pedestrians/animals.
 • Maintain accurate daily logs: hours, field/plot worked, implement used, fuel usage, and incidents.
 • Participate in toolbox talks, seasonal refreshers, and competency checks.
 • Report hazards, near-misses, spills, or breakdowns promptly to the supervisor.

Teamwork & Seasonal Flexibility
 • Support field teams during peak seasons (early starts, split shifts, weekend/overtime if required).
 • Assist with irrigation set-up/moves, boundary clearing, and other farm tasks when not driving.
 • Collaborate with Field Supervisors, Mechanics, and transport teams to meet daily targets.

Qualifications & Experience
 • Minimum Form III (or equivalent).
 • Valid tractor driver’s license.
 • 1–3 years’ experience in farming and operating tractors or heavy machinery.
 • Familiarity with implements (plough, disc harrow, ripper, subsoiler, sprayer, spreader, tipper trailer) & with planting, cultivation, and harvesting processes within cane operations.
 • Basic mechanical aptitude (identifying faults, minor adjustments).
