Job Description
DATA ANALYST – QUANTS SPECIALIST
Reve Partners has a client with investment operations in Mauritius seeking to employ a Quants Specialist. We are searching for candidates with the following:
General
- University graduate, ideally within the last two to three years.
- An understanding of financial markets, supported by a statistical or quantitative background.
- Independent, proactive and able to work with limited supervision.
- Open in communication at all times and a team player.
- Able to work across time zones and alongside a related South African business.
- Abreast of developments in markets and global innovation, particularly artificial intelligence.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree is required, in commerce, business science, engineering or mathematics. Prior experience in finance is preferred. Candidates must be passionate about markets and the quantitative aspects of them, with a sound appreciation of both risk and reward.
Experience
- Have built their own models or frameworks using machine learning or data analytics, and are able to demonstrate these at interview.
- Strong practical experience using AI tools, together with Python and advanced Excel. Advanced Excel skills are non-negotiable.
Job specifications
- Full time, based in Mauritius.
- The successful candidate will be expected to identify and motivate their own training requirements to management, which will be funded by the company on successful completion.
- The existing system comprises a series of Excel-based asset management tools. The candidate will be expected to evolve, refine and automate these tools for internal use and potentially for external use in due course.
Role
The role has two components:
Primary (non-negotiable)
- Fully understand and improve upon the existing Excel-based system.
- Run statistical regressions, scenario analysis, Monte Carlo simulation and similar techniques to test the accuracy of the system and identify where it can be enhanced.
Secondary
- To explore, at a later stage, the integration of AI into the system to enable machine learning and other developments. A demonstrated interest in these fields is preferred.
