Job Description

Position Summary

A Thai Chef (Wok Specialist) is responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of authentic Thai dishes, with a strong focus on wok-based cooking techniques. The role ensures consistent food quality, compliance with food safety regulations, and contributes to delivering exceptional guest dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities: 

·         Culinary Operations

•              Prepare and cook authentic Thai dishes using traditional and contemporary cooking methods, with expertise in wok cooking.

•              Manage the Thai/Wok section of the kitchen and ensure smooth daily operations.

•              Ensure dishes are prepared according to standardized recipes, portion controls, and presentation guidelines.

•              Monitor food quality, taste, texture, and appearance before service.

•              Maintain consistency in all menu items and special promotions.

•              Support menu development and contribute innovative ideas for Thai cuisine offerings.

 

·         Food Quality & Guest Satisfaction

•              Respond positively to guest feedback and special dietary requirements where possible.

•              Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety at all times.

•              Assist in ensuring timely and efficient food service during peak periods.

 

·         Health, Safety & Compliance

•              Adhere to Food Safety Management Systems and local health regulations.

•              Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.

•              Ensure safe handling and operation of kitchen equipment, including wok ranges and cooking stations.

•              Participate in food safety audits and inspections.

 

·         Team Leadership

•              Supervise and mentor Chefs and kitchen assistants within the assigned section.

•              Support training and development of team members.

•              Promote teamwork and a positive work environment.

•              Communicate effectively with colleagues and management.

 
Qualifications & Experience Essential

  •  Culinary certification or diploma from a recognized institution.
  • Strong experience in authentic Thai cuisine preparation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in wok cooking techniques.
  • Knowledge of food safety
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hotel or restaurant environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
