Job Description

Role purpose:

The Credit Controller will be responsible for managing the company’s debtors portfolio, following up outstanding payments, processing customer receipts and maintaining accurate debtor records and supporting documents.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review the debtor ageing report daily.
  • Follow up customers for outstanding and overdue payments.
  • Obtain and monitor customer payment commitments.
  • Process customer receipts and allocate payments against the correct invoices.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and investigate payment differences.
  • Send statements of account, invoices and supporting documents to customers.
  • Monitor customer credit terms and credit limits.
  • Maintain an updated debtor collection tracker.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Accounts and Delivery teams to resolve disputes.
  • Recommend account blocks or suspension of deliveries where required.
  • Prepare daily and weekly collection reports for management.
  • Maintain proper filing of receipts, statements, correspondence and debtor-related documents.
  • Escalate long outstanding and high-risk accounts for further action.


Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years' experience in credit control, accounts receivable, debt collection, or a similar finance role.


Knowledge and Technical Competencies: 

  • Good understanding of accounting principles and accounts receivable processes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central would be an advantage.
  • Strong negotiation skills. 
  • Good command of Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
