Job Description
Our corporate office is looking for a Group Finance Manager. Reporting to the Group CFO, the Group Finance Manager leads financial reporting, treasury oversight, and internal controls across Terra Group and its subsidiaries, acting as the technical guardian of financial integrity and statutory compliance Group-wide.
What you'll own:
1. Leadership & Team Management
• Manage all staff reporting to the role; plan, delegate, coordinate and control all financial duties to ensure accurate and timeous preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Build technical and leadership capability within the finance team through structured development plans within his department, succession planning and performance management, in line with HR frameworks.
2. Financial Reporting & Compliance
• Ensure reporting complies with IFRS and the Companies Act, and with any other applicable legislation.
• Manage and monitor the Annual Report preparation and liaise with all respective stakeholders.
• Review and assist staff in the preparation of the Group Annual Financial Statements and Stock Exchange reporting, yearly and quarterly.
• Own the year-end group consolidation process end-to-end
3. Internal Controls & Risk Management
• Review and ensure all internal control measures of the accounting system are adequately maintained and adhered to at all times.
• Maintain and periodically update a group-level financial risk register, covering treasury, credit, currency and regulatory risk.
• Perform, or oversee, regular insurance and asset-coverage reviews across the Group.
4. Audit & Regulatory Liaison
• Plan the year-end audit with external auditors and other professional service providers and respond timeously to external and internal audit findings as well as to tax queries.
5. Treasury & Cash Flow Management
• Review group cash flow management and take responsibility for the supervision of all loans contracted by the Group.
6. Planning, Budgeting & Business Performance
• Plan, review, assist and coordinate the preparation of estimates and budgets for the Group; review management accounts.
• Ensure associated companies' results are submitted timeously.
• Prepare board slides, board commentary and abridged accounts for Board and Group Executive Committee meetings.
7. Systems, Technology & Continuous Improvement
• Liaise with the IT function on requests necessary for the good performance of the financial system.
• Champion finance systems improvement and automation (ERP, consolidation and reporting tools, reconciliation automation) to reduce manual processing and improve reporting speed and accuracy.
• Coordinate and supervise the financial and accounting function of Group subsidiaries and companies under management contracts, ensuring consistent policy and control standards.
What we're looking for:
• ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent), with a minimum of 8–10 years' post-qualification experience, including at least 3–5 years in a managerial or group finance role.
• Proven experience in group consolidation, IFRS reporting, and multi-entity/multi-sector environments preferred.
• Prior exposure to a listed entity reporting environment is an advantage.
Key Competencies:
• Technical accounting and IFRS expertise, paired with sound professional judgement.
• Proven people leadership; able to develop, delegate to, and hold a team accountable.
• High integrity and independence of judgement, particularly around internal controls and audit matters.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable presenting to Group Executives, auditors and regulators alike.
• Comfortable driving systems and process improvement within the finance function.
