Job Summary 

The Business Applications Engineer (Life & Pension) is responsible to provide first level IT support to Life and Pension 

business units. The incumbent ensures the smooth running of these applications and provides technical solutions as well 

as coordinates implementation of changes in application being used by these business units, which includes monitoring 

of deployments, quality testing, debugging and deployment, according to established guidelines. The Business 

Applications Engineer also helps users in formulating and documenting the requirements and in liaising with suppliers 

for issue resolution and project tasks execution, where applicable.

Main Responsibilities 

▪ Provide support to users on the applications used by Life and Pension business units. 

▪ Write SQL scripts for listings and build reports as per the user specifications. 

▪ Follow up with suppliers on enhancements and support issues/logs. 

▪ Produce technical and user documentation for new projects. 

▪ Do the development/coding for in-house systems if required. 

▪ Write SQL scripts for ad-hoc reports/listings and build new reports and dashboards, as per the user 

specifications. 

▪ Train users and assist them in testing the system changes. 

▪ Follow up with external suppliers on enhancement requests and resolution of application logs. 

▪ Produce technical and user documentation for new enhancements and projects. 

Job Requirements 

▪ Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or any equivalent qualification. 

▪ Any certification in programming and system implementation would be an advantage. 

▪ 2 to 5 years of experience with at least two years of experience in software development and user 

support. 

▪  Candidates should have a good knowledge of:  

1. Software Development methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, Lean etc.  

2. Programming languages including VB, VB.Net, C#.Net, ASP.Net, Java, Oracle PL/SQL  

3. Web and mobile development technologies and frameworks like PHP, JavaScript, Angular, etc.  

4. Database design on Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL etc.  

5. Business Intelligence and dashboarding tools such Power BI etc.  

6. Software packages like Microsoft Office365, Project and Visio. 

▪ Knowledge of Robotic Process Automation tools such as Power Automate, UIPath etc. will be a plus.
