The General Construction Co. Ltd (GCC) is looking for a motivated and reliable Chainman to join our Site Surveying team.

As a Chainman, you will work closely with Surveyors, Engineers, and Site Teams to assist with surveying and setting-out activities on building and civil engineering projects across Mauritius. You will help ensure that survey work is carried out accurately and safely while gaining valuable experience in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

• Assist the Surveyor with land and construction surveys.
• Support setting-out activities on site.
• Operate and assist with surveying equipment such as Total Stations, GPS, Auto Levels, and other surveying instruments.
• Take and record site measurements accurately.
• Assist in preparing and updating survey drawings using AutoCAD.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and site plans.
• Carry out as-built surveys and maintain accurate survey records.
• Help maintain and care for surveying equipment.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures and company requirements at all times.
• Work closely with Surveyors, Engineers, and Site Teams to support project activities.
• Perform any other surveying-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• School Certificate (SC), Higher School Certificate (HSC), NC Level qualification, or equivalent.
• Experience in surveying, construction, or civil engineering would be an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of surveying techniques and setting-out activities.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD would be an advantage.
• Ability to use, or willingness to learn, surveying equipment such as Total Stations, GPS, and Auto Levels.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and site plans.
• Good attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors on construction sites.
• Willingness to work on different project sites across Mauritius.
