Summary of Role
We are looking
for a dynamic and experienced Team Leader to join our Compliance Monitoring
Team within the Global Ethics and Independence department in Mauritius. This
pivotal role involves leading a dedicated team to ensure our compliance
monitoring processes are not only effective but also align with global
standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong
leadership qualities, a strategic mindset, and a deep understanding of
compliance and ethical standards.
The role is
positioned as a practical operational lead, ensuring that work delivered by the
team is accurate, timely, complete, properly documented and aligned with Global
Ethics & Independence.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Gain
a robust knowledge of BDO's independence technical manual and independence
tools to provide support to the Global Ethics & Independence team and
BDO firms.
- Participate
in the management and creation of processes for the day-to-day operations
of the department based in Mauritius.
- Provide
operational guidance, coaching, and technical support to team members,
promoting accountability, collaboration, and adherence to established
procedures.
- Maintain
team trackers, logs, dashboards, reports, and management information to
ensure visibility of workload, performance, progress, quality, and risks.
- Identify
opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, quality, and service
delivery through process simplification, standardisation, and enhanced
controls.
- Work
closely with other BDO Global team members and assist as and when
required.
- Support the preparation and review of management reports, performance metrics, operational summaries, and other reporting required by management and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s
degree or equivalent qualification in Business Management, Accounting,
Compliance, or a related field.
- Minimum
3 years of experience in an operational, compliance, risk, or business
support environment.
- Minimum
1–2 years of experience in a supervisory, team lead, or people management
role.
- Experience
managing service delivery against deadlines, KPIs, SLAs, and quality
standards.
- Experience in stakeholder management and coordinating activities across multiple teams and jurisdictions would be advantageous

procedures and standards.

make sound decisions, and escalate issues appropriately.
- Continuous
improvement mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities to enhance
efficiency, consistency, quality, controls, and service delivery.
- Strong
communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to
provide clear guidance, feedback, updates, and support to team members and
stakeholders.
- Excellent
written and spoken English, being the primary working language of the
Global Office.
- Strong
proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel;
knowledge of Power BI and PowerPoint would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of the IESBA Code of Ethics, independence requirements, ethical standards for auditors, or related regulatory frameworks would be beneficial.
