Assistant Accountant - Insurance Brokerage & Client Money Management.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Assist Management in preparing financial reports
for Executive Committee and Board reporting.
- Manage accounting entries relating to insurance
premiums collected from clients
- Ensure proper segregation and monitoring of
client monies in accordance with applicable FSC requirements and insurance
regulations.
- Perform regular reconciliation of client money
accounts.
- Ensure compliance with company credit policies,
including monitoring of credit facilities granted to clients.
- Escalate overdue accounts and potential bad debts
to Management.
- Assist Management in preparing annual budgets and
forecasts.
- Monitor actual performance against budget.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors
during annual audit exercises.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting
documentation.
- Implement and maintain effective financial
controls.
- Identify weaknesses in accounting processes and
recommend improvements.
- Maintain complete and accurate accounting records
in accordance with:
- International Financial Reporting Standards
(IFRS) where applicable;
- Companies Act 2001 requirements;
- Applicable FSC regulatory requirements for
insurance intermediaries.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of tax-related requirements
Qualifications & Experience
· Degree in Accounting / Finance or equivalent.
· Minimum level 2 ACCA.
· Minimum 3–5 years’ accounting experience at supervisory level.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
· Committed to work to periodic finance deadlines such as month-end.
