Job Description

The Assistant – Finance is responsible for supporting the Manager – Finance in the planning, coordination, and monitoring of financial operations, ensuring that all financial transactions are processed accurately, efficiently, and within established timelines.

Responsibility
  • Perform debtor account adjustments and maintain accurate debtor ledger records.
  • Update and manage foreign currency transactions and exchange rate records.
  • Prepare and reconcile input VAT schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain and update the cashbook, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Prepare timely and accurate bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare balance sheet schedules related to leasing activities.
  • Process month-end journal entries and perform account reconciliations to support the financial close process.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors and respond promptly to audit queries and requests.
  • Compile, prepare, and submit ad hoc reports and financial information within agreed deadlines.
  • Support the continuous improvement and maintenance of accounting procedures, financial controls, and compliance standards.
  • Plan, organize, supervise, and support the work of team members to ensure operational efficiency and high service standards.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training to junior team members and new recruits as required.
  • Undertake any other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Profile
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and/or a recognised professional accounting qualification.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and organisation.
