Job Description

C-Care Hospitals & Clinics Mauritius is currently looking for an OPD Manager.

Reporting to the Hospital Manager, the OPD Manager will be responsible for the overall management and smooth operation of the Outpatient Department (OPD). The incumbent will ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and customer service by coordinating outpatient services, optimizing operational efficiency, managing multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.


What you will be doing:
    Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Outpatient Department to ensure efficient patient flow and service delivery.
    Supervise and support administrative, nursing, and support staff within the OPD to ensure high standards of performance and patient care.
    Monitor patient waiting times and implement initiatives to improve operational efficiency and patient experience.
    Coordinate outpatient clinics, specialist consultations, diagnostic services, and supporting departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
    Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical governance standards, infection prevention and control protocols, and regulatory requirements.
    Develop, review, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance departmental effectiveness.
    Monitor departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), prepare operational reports, and recommend improvement initiatives.
    Investigate patient complaints and service issues, implementing corrective actions to improve patient satisfaction.
    Collaborate with consultants, medical practitioners, nursing teams, and other hospital departments to optimize outpatient services.
    Manage departmental staffing requirements, including roster planning, leave coordination, and performance management.
    Support budget planning, cost control initiatives, and efficient utilization of departmental resources.
    Ensure the availability and proper maintenance of equipment, supplies, and facilities within the OPD.
    Participate in quality improvement programmes, accreditation activities, audits, and risk management initiatives.
    Lead and support staff training, coaching, and development to foster continuous improvement and service excellence.
    Perform any other duties assigned by Management in line with departmental and organizational objectives.

Qualifications & Experience:
    Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related field.
    Minimum of 5 years' experience in a healthcare environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably within an Outpatient Department.
    Sound knowledge of hospital operations, patient flow management, healthcare quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
    Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining high standards of patient care and operational excellence.
