JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: IT
and AV Support Assistant
Campus: Mauritius
Period: Permanent
Reporting to: Head
of Information Technology and AV Services
Overall
Purpose:
The
post holder will work within the IT and AV Services Team to ensure the
effective operation and maintenance of IT, network, and audio-visual systems
across the Mauritius Campus. The role involves providing first-line technical
support to staff and students, responding to support requests, and assisting
with routine maintenance of IT and AV infrastructure. The post holder will also
support the delivery of events and provide guidance on the use of audio-visual
equipment.
Principal
Duties:
·
Prioritise
and provide end-user support, serving as the first point of in resolving
technical issues and providing technical assistance, either in person or
remotely (via telephone, email and/or helpdesk).
·
Assist
in the configuration, maintenance and repairs of desktops and laptops, ensuring
they are in working condition for end users.
·
Troubleshoot,
mitigate/correct, monitor and report issues on different IT and network systems
such as switches, wireless/network connections, audio-visual, telephony
solutions and software applications.
·
Provide
proactive support for audio-visual issues reported by staff and escalation to the
IT Systems Coordinator as required.
·
Support
operational monitoring and review of workloads, ensuring appropriate staff and
equipment are available to enable the team to meet university needs and
developments on campus.
·
Assist
the IT & AV Services Team to identify and deliver training and support to
academic and professional services staff to ensure they have the appropriate
skills and knowledge to operate audio-visual and video conferencing equipment.
·
Set
up, operate or provide onsite support regarding audio-visual equipment during conferences
and events.
·
Document
AV procedures, log and track fault calls and undertake inventory management.
·
Demonstrate new technology to
staff/students as and when required.
·
Other tasks that may be required by
the Head of Information Technology & AV Services with particular reference
to major events such as examination invigilation and graduation ceremonies,
when all administrative staff are expected to participate.
Other Duties:
·
As duties and responsibilities change, the job
description will be reviewed and amended in consultation with the post-holder.

The post-holder will carry out any other duties as
are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line
manager.
