We are looking for a Web Developer to join the Shared Services – IT Department. In this role, you will work closely with the communications team and key stakeholders to enhance the digital presence and web maturity of our various Business Units.

 

As our Web Developer, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining enterprise-level websites that offer seamless user experiences, high performance, and robust security. This position requires strong technical expertise, a creative problem-solving mindset, and a keen understanding of business needs to deliver scalable, efficient, and user-friendly web solutions.

Your roles and responsibilities will involve, but will not be limited to : 

Website Development

  • Website Creation: Develop, test, and deploy fully functional websites and web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and back-end technologies.
  • Integration: Implement and customize content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).
  • Cross-Platform Compatibility: Ensure websites are responsive and perform well across various devices and browsers.
  • API Integration: Integrate third-party services and APIs to enhance website capabilities.
  • Maintenance: Optimize front-end and back-end architecture for efficiency and scalability.
  • Troubleshooting and Debugging: Identify and resolve coding and performance issues to ensure seamless functionality.

Web Optimisation

  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly assess website speed, load times, and key performance metrics to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Technical SEO Implementation: Implement technical SEO strategies, including the use of meta tags, schema mark-up, structured URLs, and other best practices to improve search engine visibility.
  • Code Optimization: Streamline code by reducing redundancy and enhancing efficiency with techniques such as minification, compression, and lazy loading.
  • Security Enhancement: Strengthen website defences by integrating HTTPS, deploying firewalls, performing regular security updates, and addressing vulnerabilities proactively.
  • Analytics Integration: Set up and manage analytics tools like Google Analytics to track user behaviour, measure performance, and guide data-driven decisions.
  • Delivery Optimization: Utilize CDNs and implement caching techniques to ensure rapid and reliable delivery of content across all regions.
  • Ongoing Maintenance: Perform regular updates, patches, and audits to keep websites secure, functional, and aligned with evolving standards.

UI and UX            

  • Work closely with designers to translate wireframes into responsive, visually appealing interfaces.
  • Ensure user-centric design by following accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
  • Develop and maintain reusable components and front-end libraries.
  • Conduct A/B testing and implement design changes based on insights.
  • Stay updated on emerging UI/UX trends and technologies to enhance user experience.

Project Management       

  • Project Planning & Requirement Gathering
    • Collaborate with business unit leaders, marketing, communications, and IT team to define website goals, user needs, and technical requirements.
    • Conduct discovery sessions to understand existing website limitations, pain points, and key areas of improvement.
  • Agile Methodology:
    • Break down the project into sprints or phases for iterative development and continuous improvement.
  • Focus on MVP (Minimum Viable Product):
    • Deliver a functional core product first, then iterate.
  • Client-Centric Approach: Align decisions with user needs and stakeholder feedback.

Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration

  • Act as the technical liaison between design, content, and external agencies.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and roadblocks.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) with key stakeholders before go-live.
  • Ensure all compliance, security, and governance requirements are met.
Minimum education requirements 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum experience requirements
  • 5+ years of professional experience in web development with a strong portfolio of projects.
  • Hands-on experience with database management (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Candidate's Profile
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities to mentor junior developers and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent experience in front end development tools such as Elementor.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Solid back-end development experience with technologies like Node.js, PHP, Python, or Ruby on Rails.
