Sustainability Lead

 

Tropic Knits Group, part of the textile cluster of CIEL Group, is one of the largest Fine Knits manufacturers in the Indian Ocean. Our clients, based in the UK, Europe, South Africa and USA, include some of the world's best-known high street retailers and sports brand. Tropic Knits Group is a global entity which operates factories in Mauritius, Madagascar and India.

We are currently looking for a Sustainability Lead to join CDL Knits Ltd.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the Sustainability Management System to implement the Group’s Sustainability Strategy.
  • Develop and execute sustainable development initiatives.
  • Stay updated on customer sustainability requirements, codes of conduct, and align company strategies accordingly.
  • Conduct training on various sustainability topics to support factory objectives.
  • Perform environmental and social risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory sustainability requirements, with regular reporting through KPIs.
  • Monitor and manage sustainability performance, including energy, water, waste, emissions, chemicals, and environmental impact, while initiating improvement projects.
  • Communicate sustainability initiatives within the organization and to external stakeholders.
  • Utilise relevant sustainability platforms for company data reporting.
  • Oversee supplier sustainability performance to ensure compliance with Ciel Textile standards.
  • Manage sustainability-related documentation, records, certifications, and customer audits.
  • Support all sustainability initiatives set by CDL Knits Ltd and Ciel Textile Sustainability Committees.
  • Actively participate in global sustainability projects initiated by the Group.

Required Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Degree holder in Chemical and Environmental Engineering or equivalent 
  • Have a clear understanding of Sustainability Management Systems
  • Exposure to ISO 14000, and ISO 50000 would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of Higg Index Tools (FEM/ MSI)
  • Exposure to CDP and SBTi
  • Be conversant with Chemical Management systems and RSL/ CIL/ SDS.
  • Easy and convenient to deal with.
  • Analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Make it happen attitude.
  • Ability to work with a team with diverse competencies
