The Student Affairs Officer will be responsible to ensure that student related activities are undertaken as per schedule and that student welfare is ensured.

Salary: Rs 30,000 - Rs 45,000
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution or an alternative qualification acceptable to the Board.
Experience
At least three years’ experience in areas pertaining to students’ affairs such as advertising and marketing of courses, students’ recruitment planning, counselling and orienting students and other related fields.
Knowledge and Skills
Candidates should –
- Be fluent in both English and French;
- Are able to work under pressure;
- Have a high sense of integrity and responsibility;
- Possess a thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; and
- Be computer literate.
Candidates should produce written evidence of experience/knowledge claimed.
Duties
- Report to the Student Affairs Manager/ Marketing Manager or as designated.
- To assists in the planning and development of a set of goals and objectives for the Student Affairs in conjunction with PML strategic plan.
- To involve actively in the development, planning, preparation and undertaking of established PML student recruitment strategies namely;
- Ensuring, in collaboration with the different clusters and/or departments a coordinated approach to student recruitment and retention activities
- Assisting in branding, marketing and advertising campaigns for local and international student recruitment
- Working in collaboration with the Managers, Programme Leaders and facilitators to make suggestions on improvements to the student recruitment process
- Handling an international recruitment project portfolio as assigned on a yearly and rotating basis
- Raising the PML’s profile by participating in on and off campus recruitment activities
- Tracking the status of documents and applications and may provide updates to students and applicants
- Following up on the data entering process by the academic affairs officer with regards to students and student related activities.
- To be a point of contact of the student for any matter or support as required
- To perform specialized student services functions such as;
- To offer guidance and information to students and their families on courses offered at PML
- To welcome International students who joins PML at airport
- To enable adaptations of international students in Mauritius, perform periodical check for them to feel cared
- To manage the service and support for international students enabling them to follow their courses diligently
- To look into queries/complaints from students and ensure that they are resolved
- To provide basic counselling to students and refer any issue to the educational psychologist
- To provide support to the international students in finding an appropriate accommodation
- To follow up on a case to case basis and ensure student feedback is obtained in order to maintain the highest levels of student satisfaction
- To welcome students during induction and when returning to campus after internship and/ or yearly break as far as applicable.
- To take part in recruitment campaigns for both domestic and foreign students and assist in;
- To assist in development and production of program advertising, promotional flyers and related recruitment initiatives
- To actively seek out new opportunities and markets for tapping into new student pool for recruitment of students for the courses offered by PML
- To identify target groups in consultation with the relevant clusters
- To collaborate with the Marketing department to provide suggestions on the content of recruitment publications, collaterals and communications to ensure they are reflective of prospective student information needs
- To gather and interpret information from a variety of sources like internet, social media, field mission reports and information from another clusters/department (SAO)
- To Promote student welfare and wellness on campus and actively contribute towards planning, organizing and coordinating CAS (Creativity, Action and Service) activities on campus
- To Build up good relationship and maintain bonding with students, including international students and organize activities such as and not restricted to outings/sundowners/get together to create bonding
- To seek out industry-immersion opportunities with employers and coordinate traineeships, internships and placements of students in Industry along with Facilitators and Programme Leaders
- Facilitate the admissions pipeline (local and international) and interview schedules and processes to meet targets and deadlines
- To liaise with the Passport and Immigration Office (PIO) for visa for international students and monitor the renewal of Visas
- To initiate, develop, and sustain strong positive relation with program coordinators and departmental leadership to ensure achievement of the mission and goals of the department and cluster
- To Maintain student records on database, creates and provides reports. Provides contact point for enrolled and prospective student information
- To create both official and unofficial channels for students to raise their voice and share their inputs.
- To perform other duties in support of the operation of the unit and assist Management in other duties based on project assigned and organizational priorities
NOTE
The Students Affairs Officer will be required to work outside normal working hours and during weekends depending on the recruitment schedule for students and may also be called to travel abroad under short notice.
