Sr. Specialist, Workplace Health & Safety

The Health and Safety Officer is responsible for developing, maintaining and protecting health and safety standards in accordance with current health and safety legislation. The health and safety Officer’s main aim is to prevent accidents, injuries and work-related illnesses in the workplace.

Job Description

• Report to Facilities Manager
• Well versed with OSHWA
• Liaise with Ministry of Labour concerning Safety and Health Reporting
• Prepare risk assessment of CVG Mauritius
• Participate in Fire Drill
• Participate in the training of staff for fire awareness
• Inspect site of work to ensure compliance with OSHWA
• Assist in the Health and Safety Committee
• Advise CVG Facilities Manager in terms of Health and Safety at work
• Perform any duties assigned by Facilities Manager

  Candidate Profile

• Recognized Health and Safety Qualification under the OSH Act 2005
• At least 3 years of experience in the Health and Safety department.
• Professional approach.
• Planning, organizational and time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
• IT Skills.
• Ability to work co-operatively with others to complete tasks and implement process gathering, analyzing and reporting on key H & S data/statistics.
• Ability to work in and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
