Location: Rose Hill/ Port Louis/ Curepipe/ Quatre Bornes/ Rose Belle

Department: Retail / Store Operations

Reports to: Store Manager / Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Shop Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting with sales, maintaining store cleanliness, and ensuring shelves are well-stocked. The role requires good communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a retail environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

• Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful service.
• Assist customers in finding products and provide product information.
• Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns professionally.
• Process sales transactions using the cash register or POS system.

Store Operations:

• Ensure shelves are stocked, organised, and visually appealing.
• Assist with receiving, unpacking, and arranging stock in the store.
• Check product pricing and update labels when necessary.
• Monitor stock levels and inform the supervisor of low or out-of-stock items.

Store Maintenance & Hygiene:

• Keep the store clean, tidy, and well-organized at all times.
• Arrange displays and promotional materials as per store guidelines.
• Follow safety and hygiene standards in handling products.

Teamwork & Other Duties:

• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth store operations.
• Assist in stocktaking and inventory management.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the store manager.

Requirements & Skills:

• Previous retail or customer service experience is an advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic math skills for cash handling.
• Ability to stand for long hours and perform physical tasks like lifting and carrying stock.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
