The Senior Enterprise Architect is responsible for defining and managing the enterprise architecture
framework, ensuring it aligns with the bank’s strategic goals, operational requirements, and regulatory standards. This role provides leadership and technical expertise to develop scalable, secure, and efficient IT systems, fostering innovation and operational excellence.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
Enterprise Architecture Strategy

  • Define and implement the enterprise architecture vision and roadmap, aligning IT initiatives with the bank’s business objectives.
  • Develop and enforce enterprise architecture principles, standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend their adoption to drive innovation and efficiency.

Governance & Oversight

  • Lead the governance of IT systems and architecture to ensure consistency and compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Review and approve architectural designs to ensure scalability, security, and alignment with the enterprise strategy.
  • Conduct architecture assessments to identify risks and areas for improvement.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with business leaders, project managers, and technical teams to ensure alignment between IT architecture and business needs.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing insights on architectural decisions and their business impact.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to resolve complex design and integration challenges

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of architects, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to ensure successful delivery of architecture initiatives.
  • Drive professional development within the architecture team to build competencies and align with the bank’s goal

Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of architecture frameworks, standards, and decisions.
  • Ensure architecture documentation is accessible and understood by relevant stakeholders.
  • Share architectural knowledge through training sessions and workshops.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization

  • Monitor IT system performance and drive initiatives to optimize cost, performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify and implement improvements in IT processes and system designs to support scalability and resilience

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure IT architecture complies with banking regulations and standards, such as GDPR, Basel III, and cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate architectural risks, ensuring the bank’s IT systems are secure and resilient.

 
KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field 
  • 10+ years of experience in similar roles, preferably within the banking or financial services sector 
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise architecture frameworks in banking or financial services.
  • Expertise in managing complex IT projects and cross-functional teams. 
  • Experience with COBIT, ITIL, Agile, and project management methodologies such as PMP or PRINCE2 would be an advantage 
  • Strong understanding of architecture & banking frameworks [e.g., TOGAF, BIAN etc].
  • Proficiency in core banking systems, cloud technologies [AWS, Azure etc], APIs, and microservices.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, data governance, and regulatory compliance standards. 
  • Experience in managing IT risks, compliance, and ensuring alignment with banking regulations 
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels 
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to influence stakeholders and foster collaboration.
  • Leadership skills to manage and inspire a high-performing team. 

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS: 

  • Master’s degree or certifications in Enterprise Architecture [e.g., TOGAF or equivalent] preferred.
