Senior Accountant
Our client is in the offshore sector looking to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their team.
Purpose
The Senior Accountant will report to the Head of the Accounting & Finance Department and has responsibility for preparation of various accounting reports in a timely manner, primarily on a quarterly basis for both internal and external purposes.
Key Outcomes
The primary tasks of the Senior Accountant role are to:
- Ensure the general ledger is kept up to date.
- Ensure reconciliation of accounts to supporting schedules/subledgers.
- Prepare payroll and ensuring submission of statutory/other deductions and payments.
- Ensure timely submission of quarterly reports – management reports, FSC reports, Finance report for inclusion in Board Books.
- Ensure timely submission of invoices, policy statements and commission statements.
- Attend to any other related tasks or projects.
Previous Experience
- Min. 5 to 7 years accounting experience, preferably within financial services or insurance environment.
Educational Requirements & Skills
- University business degree or equivalent experience.
- ACCA qualified or nearing completion.
- Strong working Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point).
- Strong knowledge of Business Central.
- Great organizational, communication and analytical skills and the ability to multitask.
Key Accountabilities
Recordkeeping:
- Recording information within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as well as the Company’s proprietary software.
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Providing information in various formats to Junior accounting staff for recording within accounting software.
Review:
- Reviewing portfolio reports and asset valuation reports before passing to junior accounting staff for recording.
- Reviewing outputs from proprietary software before finalizing reports for distribution, or further processing within the accounting system.
- Reviewing payment instructions prepared by junior accounting staff.
Reporting:
- Aiding with preparation/review of commission statements and policy statements.
- Preparing Ad Hoc reports for Head of Department and other management.
- Preparation of statutory reports.
- Preparation of other reports, presentations, and financial information.
Other:
- Provide assistance to other companies within the group as required.
- Liaise with auditors and other service providers as required.
- Assist other members of the accounting team with projects.
- Maintain the confidential and propriety nature of client relationships and related work products.
- Any other related cognate tasks.
