JOB SUMMARY

This role is to provide assistance in developing and managing the Environment, Health & Safety and Food Safety Management System for all areas of C Mauritius Palmar hotel, working with Department Managers to ensure general sustainability practices and issues, risk management processes, corporate social responsibility data collection and publication, materiality assessments, carbon disclosure, UN Global Compact and UN Sustainable Development Goals, compliance and certification programs, training of personnel and continual improvement of a corporate sustainability culture and performance.

The individual should have good customer service and teamwork skills and be able to enhance programmatic performance through process improvements, change management, and data-driven business decisions. This position will include working with the Health & Safety Officer and the Food Safety Officer in field operations, implementing KPI reporting, innovation and collaborating across the company’s business and functional areas.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities and duties for this position shall include, but not be limited to, the following areas and activities. The holder of this position may, at any time, be called to perform any other cognate duties at the request of management.

  • Assist in ensuring that the Group EHS Policies are implemented consistently across the resort.
  • Assist in planning, implementing and coordinating practical EHS programs, developed in compliance with all contracts, laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining statutory compliance to the prescribed legal requirements.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to develop an EHS working culture.
  • Assist in the overall risk management process for the organisation, including their financial analysis and communication to stakeholders.
  • Assist in identifying and reporting on the need for policies, business continuity plans, and audits aligned with corporate governance structures.
  • Assist in identifying and reporting alternative funding streams and liaise with marketing and communication functions to promote the sustainability strategy.
  • Assist the communications team to develop and execute Corporate Sustainability communication strategy.
  • Assist in Identifying and implementing work improvement programs to ensure operational efficiency, including certification programs (e.g., HACCP, Green Globe, ISO and others).
  • Work closely with other functions within the company – assisting as required and develop a supportive relationship.
  • Maintain a safe work environment. Report and/or rectify safety hazards.
  • Adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Act, local health and safety codes, and company safety and security policy 
  • Promote energy efficiency and environment friendly actions
  • Maintains highest levels of personal hygiene and grooming at all times, as per standard.
  • Participate in trainings as and when required by management
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Management

JOB PROFILE

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, health & safety, risk management or any related qualification from a recognised institution.
  • Commercial awareness, planning and organisational skills.
  • Analytical, research and writing skills.
  •  Communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Communicate effectively in English & French.
  • Ability to work in a team and under pressure.
