The Safety & Health Officer will be responsible for monitoring, assessing hazardous/unsafe practices and developing measures to ensure a safe workplace environment for personnel within SKC Group of Companies.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all Safety & Health policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated to concerned bodies.
- Ensure completion and regular review of risk assessments as required per OSHA 2005 for all work equipment, machineries and operations.
- Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommendations are made to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure that safety inspections, Safety & Health committees, fire drills amongst others are carried out in a timely manner and within legal terms.
- Constant follow up on all recommendations made to ensure proper implementation within timeframe.
- Liaise with concerned authorities for Fire Certificates, Registration of factories and other legal documents.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 2005 and other relevant legislations at all times and communicate amendments to the Management.
- Constant reporting pertaining to Safety & Health issues encountered and non conformities to the Management and/or concerned departments.
- Procure and provide adequate PPE based on hazards to eligible personnel within required timeframe.
- Assist the HR department to procure and distribute uniforms as and when required.
- Establish safety and health committees at required intervals as specified by OSHA 2005.
- Design, implement, provide and maintain records of Safety and Health training programs.
- Perform any other cognate duties as may be assigned by Management.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or any relevant qualifications.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as registered Safety and Health Officer.
- Previous experience in Distribution sector will be an advantage.
- Experience in training and good presentations skills
- Good communication skills.
- Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills
- Well versed with OSHA 2005 and other legislations.
- Computer literate - MS Office proficiency
