The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, maintenance, and improvement of mechanical systems and equipment within the park, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of park operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Development:
    • Design and develop mechanical systems, including visitor amenities (e.g., water features, transportation systems, mechanical equipment for exhibits), and park infrastructure (e.g., mechanical supports for pathways, structures, and lighting systems).
    • Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and plans for mechanical components and systems.
    • Work closely with the park’s research and development team to ensure designs are sustainable and complement the natural surroundings.
  1. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    • Ensure the ongoing maintenance and functionality of mechanical systems throughout the park, including HVAC systems, water pumps, mechanical equipment for visitor attractions, and mechanical structures.
    • Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues in equipment, systems, and infrastructure, coordinating repairs as needed to minimize downtime and ensure visitor safety.
    • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to extend the lifespan of mechanical systems and reduce the need for reactive repairs.

  1. Project Management and Coordination:
    • Lead mechanical engineering aspects of various projects, ensuring that they meet the park’s requirements for efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
    • Work with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into park designs and operations.
    • Ensure that projects stay within budget and are completed according to specified timelines.

  1. Energy and Sustainability:
    • Evaluate and implement energy-efficient solutions for mechanical systems within the park, including energy recovery systems, renewable energy integration, and water conservation measures.
    • Collaborate with the sustainability team to develop eco-friendly and cost-effective designs for park infrastructure.
  1. Testing and Optimization:
    • Conduct rigorous testing of mechanical systems, including load-bearing capacity, operational efficiency, and safety protocols.
    • Use simulation tools and stress tests to ensure the durability and long-term reliability of mechanical systems, especially for high-traffic areas.
    • Analyze data and make necessary adjustments to optimize mechanical systems and reduce operational costs.

  1. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and comprehensive technical documentation for all mechanical designs, maintenance procedures, and operational processes.
    • Provide regular updates to the management team on the status of mechanical systems, ongoing projects, and any issues that require attention.
    • Prepare and present detailed reports on mechanical system performance, maintenance history, and optimization efforts.

  1. Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure that all mechanical systems comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and relevant industry codes.
    • Develop and enforce safety protocols to mitigate risks associated with mechanical systems and equipment.
    • Perform safety inspections and identify potential hazards, recommending solutions to enhance the safety of park visitors and staff.
  1. Innovation and Improvement:
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in mechanical engineering, including new technologies, materials, and sustainability practices.
    • Continuously evaluate park systems and recommend improvements that enhance visitor experience, reduce costs, and contribute to a sustainable future for La Vallée des Couleurs Nature Park.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
    • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is a plus for more advanced roles.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience (typically 3+ years) as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably in a similar setting such as parks, environmental projects, or public infrastructure.
    • Experience with mechanical systems in energy, water systems, or sustainable building technologies is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
    • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mechanical design principles.
    • Experience with energy-efficient and sustainable design practices.
    • Familiarity with renewable energy technologies (e.g., solar, wind) is a plus.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
    • Familiarity with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental regulations (ISO, ASME, etc.).
