KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Effectively handle survey requests and timely inform Principals/customers of intended course of action.
• Conduct all types of marine surveys as per the scope and instructions received from Principals/customers and company’s procedures.
• Timely complete and submit comprehensive survey reports within a reasonable period of time.
• Raise survey invoices, respond to customer's queries and follow-up with accounts department to ensure the prompt settlement of the survey’s fees.
• Carry out effective marketing activities such as sales calls to prospective clients, namely insurance companies, shipping firms, cargo importers/exporters, with a view to creating business opportunities.
• Actively participate in the development of the survey business.
• Provide timely reporting on port situation and all casualties, accidents and incidents occurring at Port-Louis and within the country’s EEZ.
• Play an active role in both internal and external audits.
• Ensure proper implementation of internal and external audits recommendations.
• The Marine Surveyor may also be called upon to perform other marine related duties.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• HSC.
• A tertiary qualification as Surveyor would be an advantage.
• At least 5 years work experience in the Marine Surveying field.
OTHER PRE REQUISITES
• Computer literate and familiarity with related internal systems.
• Good communication (both written and verbal) and analytical skills.
•Good organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Good knowledge of shipping.
•Positive attitude and willing to learn.
•Team player with ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Clean certificate of character.
• Valid driving license.
