The MLRO & Compliance Officer ensures regulatory compliance, manages AML/CFT frameworks, mitigates risks, and acts as the primary liaison with authorities. This role upholds trust, integrity, and excellence while ensuring adherence to Mauritius’ legal and industry standards.

The MLRO & Compliance Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the company’s adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards in Mauritius while maintaining the high level of trust our clients place in us. This role includes managing compliance risks, overseeing the Company’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) framework, ensuring regulatory adherence, and acting as the main point of contact with regulatory authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain the Company’s compliance and AML/CFT policies, procedures, and controls in line with the Financial Services Commission (FSC) regulatory framework, the Financial Intelligence and Anti-Money Laundering Act (FIAMLA), and other relevant regulations.
Conduct internal audits, compliance risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring of transactions to ensure regulatory adherence and risk mitigation.
Identify and investigate suspicious transactions, ensuring that Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) are filed with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) as required.
Provide advisory support to the Board and management on compliance-related matters, including corporate governance, AML/CFT obligations, and regulatory updates.
Oversee the client onboarding process, ensuring adherence to Know Your Customer (KYC), customer due diligence (CDD), and enhanced due diligence (EDD) requirements while offering a seamless client experience.
Conduct training programs to educate employees on compliance obligations, AML/CFT risks, and ethical business practices, reinforcing our commitment to proactive compliance.
Maintain accurate records of all compliance measures, including due diligence reports, risk assessments, and internal audits, ensuring that our clients operate with confidence and peace of mind.
Liaise with regulatory authorities and represent the Company in compliance and AML/CFT-related matters with professionalism and integrity.
Ensure timely regulatory reporting to the FSC and other relevant authorities.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in compliance and AML/CFT, preferably in the financial services or management company sector.
Certification in AML (e.g., CAMS, ICA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Strong understanding of FIAMLA, the FSC AML/CFT Handbook, the Companies Act, and the Financial Services Act.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a client-focused approach.
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while aligning with the company’s ethos of providing personalized and proactive client service.
