The Lecturer would ensure that the lectures are delivered to the required standards and schedule. The Lecturer also follows up on the student in their learning process and provides them support as and when required.

 

Post: Lecturer Pharmacology
Salary: Rs 31,725- 49,950
(Negotiable on the basis of experience and qualifications)

Duration: Contractual basis for two years, may be considered for permanent and pensionable establishment upon satisfactory completion of contractual employment

Qualifications: A Master’s degree in the field or a related field from a recognized institution or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.
Experience: • At least five years of experience in the field.
• Experience in teaching, developing, delivery and implementation of courses in the field preferably in an education environment or at industry level as a trainer would constitute an advantage.
• At least six months in both the medical wards and the surgical wards and in any two or more of the following units is desirable; Accident and Emergency, Orthopaedics, Burnand Cardiology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Paediatrics.
Knowledge and Skills:
Candidates should –
A. Have fluency in English Language.
B. Show Positive attitude, problem solving and decision making skills;
C. Demonstrate good interpersonal skills; mainly towards customers (student and parents).
D. be IT literate.
Candidates should produce written evidence of experience/knowledge claimed.
Duties:

To report to the Programme Leader (Nursing) for the performance of the following duties –
To conduct courses, demonstrate nursing practice both in the teaching department and in hospital wards and demonstrate application of theory to practice in the relevant fields;
2. To arrange for lectures and clinical teaching outside his/her field of competence for students e.g. following post-basic courses in Psychiatry, Public Health, Orthopedics, Administration, etc;
3. To prepare detailed training programmes for the introductory course and study blocks in consultation with other teaching staff, hospital and other authorities and to keep records of school,
hospital and field training;
4. To prepare and invigilate examinations and tests, assess and grade students
5. To participate as member in the Nurse Education Committee and, whenever required, in other meetings.;
6. To integrate technology in the teaching and learning process.
7. To help in the administration of the Polytechnic, e.g. taking charge of the library, maintain records, safe keeping of equipment, instruments, stores and other articles, whenever required;
7. To co-ordinate the work of subordinate staff;
8. To carry out assessment and evaluation of teaching programmes and provide feedback;
9. To maintain quality standards in all processes;
10. To provide counselling services for students;
11. To carry out the tasks assigned at any workstation and time specified by Polytechnics Mauritius Ltd;
12. To use ICT in the performance of his/her duties;
13. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Lecturer Nursing in the roles ascribed to
him/her.
NOTE
1. The Lecturer Nursing shall have a primary interest in the whole training function. He/she should therefore devote all his/her attention to the students.
2. The services of the Lecturer Nursing shall be apportioned by the Programme Leader (Nursing), to any specific field of nursing education, as and when required, taking into consideration the
qualifications and experience of the Lecturer
