Who is Our Client?
Our Client is a newly established support services Company that has been formed to better support and strengthen the long-standing Mauritian based business as well as other global finance operations across their Enterprise.
Role Overview
The Junior Accountant will primarily provide accounting and bookkeeping for the local Mauritian accounting function for our client , in addition to multiple other global entities. The Junior Accountant will collaborate closely with the Senior Accounting Manager in Mauritius, as well as the global finance team, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and transparency of our client's accounting functions and closing activities across their broader enterprise.
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Accurately post and reconcile transactions, including bank activity, fixed assets, and non-cash items, across a multi-currency accounting system.
- Maintain comprehensive accounting records to support the timely preparation of management accounts and annual financial statements.
- Collaborate effectively with the global finance team to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to internal and external queries.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and solid numerical skills.
- Provide ongoing accounting support to the team and assist with ad hoc projects as required.
- Stay informed on relevant regulatory requirements and apply them in day-to-day work.
- Proactively take ownership of assigned entities during team absences to ensure seamless continuity of service.
- Uphold a high standard of quality and accuracy, contributing to a culture of excellence and error minimization.
What makes a great candidate?- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; part-qualified accountant also considered.
- Experience: 2+ years in accounting, ideally with exposure to global business operations.
- Certifications (Preferred but not required): Progress toward accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA).
- Industry Exposure: Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency environments; global finance exposure a plus.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft D365 ERP; strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Accounting Standards: Knowledge of US GAAP desirable; strong understanding of IFRS required.
- Systems & Tools Expertise: Experience with multicurrency general ledger and payments.
- Analytical & Communication Skills: Strong attention to detail; clear communicator with a collaborative mindset.
- Work Style: Reliable, self-motivated, and solution-oriented team player with a flexible approach to working hours.
- Soft Skills: Confident, responsible, and eager to learn and grow in a dynamic finance team.
