The Internship and Placement Officer is responsible to ensure the placement of students in industries is undertaken as per established schedule and that the industry exposure is appropriate for the student to learn the skills and competence int the field.

Qualifications:
A Degree from a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.
Experience:
At least 3 years’ experience acquired in an education environment.
Knowledge and Skills:
Candidates should –
(i) possess good organising and interpersonal skills;
(ii) possess good analytical and problem-solving skills; and
(iii) be computer literate.
Candidates should produce written evidence of experience/knowledge claimed.
Duties.
2. Provide leadership in the development and implementation of viable internship programs to increase opportunities for Polytechnics Mauritius students.
3. Facilitate student learning by assisting students to secure appropriate internships to enhance overall academic experience and learn skills essential to conduct a successful job search.
4. Initiate and build partnerships with employers and business leaders to develop student opportunities for experiential endeavours.
5. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to create policy and procedures for ensuring the academic quality and integrity of internships.
6. Provide optimal marketing strategies to connect students to experiential endeavours and jobs.
7. Conduct site visits to evaluate appropriateness and relevance of internships for students.
8. Develop and revise internships policies and procedures.
9. Identify, develop and monitor current internship sites.
10. Plan and conduct internship workshops and information programs for PML students.
11. Develop an internship manual and promotional material and updates as needed.
12. Research appropriate resources to support internship opportunities.
13. Assess the effectiveness of internship programs.
14. Visit employers to promote potential students interested in internship opportunities.
15. Ensure all Internships agreements are completed accurately, and are kept securely.
16. Ensure that all updated/approved documents are signed by the appropriate party(s).
17. Provide employers and students with the most current, up-to-date Internship documents.
18. Maintain the records of all students who participate in internships.
19. Ensure all Internships agreements are renewed on an annual basis.
20. Create and maintain Employer Packets.
21. Maintain database administration for purposes of tracking all Polytechnics Mauritius student interns.
22. Counsel and advise Polytechnics Mauritius students regarding employment opportunities through various employers.
23. Perform other duties in support of the operation of the unit and assist Management in other duties relevant to the duties as mentioned above.
NOTE: The Internship and Placement Officer will be required to work outside normal working hours and during weekends.
