IT Infrastructure Engineer

The infrastructure engineer responsibilities will include upgrading and improving operating environments, creating repair strategies, and providing technical support and training for users.

 

•    Ensure compliance with governance rules such as SOX, Health & Safety and Brinks policies


•    Managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure from all usual aspects: 
-    Monitoring of the installed environment (systems and Network)
-    New installations, configurations, testing and commissioning.
-    Provide Access management (Setting up accounts for new users, deactivation of accounts when requested))
-    Patching 
-    Backup and replications
-    Restoration requests & exercise
-    System management tools
-    Maintain security set up and adjust as per improved procedures or corporate policies.
-    Use scripts to automate tasks and increase efficiency by lowering human intervention time.


•    Work on the new solutions/Technologies:
-    Testing of new solutions/Technologies
-    Prepare schematic diagrams.
-    Training of users on new solutions if required.
-    Documentations of new solutions / Prepare presentations.
-    Proposed alternative solutions which may improve efficiency or contributes to cost saving initiatives.
-    Review and recommend technological upgrades for the infrastructure.


•    work on problem resolutions: 
-    Responding in a timely manner to service issues and requests
-    Identify potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions and work with developers to implement hot fixes.
-    Provide support for Network and Systems
-    Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
-    Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
-    Replacing faulty hardware components when required.
-    Conferring with network users about solving existing system problems
-    Adjustments to configurations following performance degradation of Network and Systems.


•    work on General IT tasks: 
-    Documentation of existing infrastructure and changes to the environment.
-    Update operational IT procedures.
-    Support Internal users and external customers on any IT related subjects.
-    Preparation of IT quarterly reports
 

Knowledge & Experience:

 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science preferably in Networking
  • Have been working in a similar position during the last 3 to 5 years
  • Strong understanding of computer network infrastructure and virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Ability to implement, administer and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
  • Ability to create network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems. And to learn quickly technologies and products using documentation and internet resources.
  • Experience with local area network and wide area network administration and with  Firewalls, IDS/IPS
  • Successful experience in Project Management
  • LEAN Management Certification

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, time management and problem solving skills 
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and to travel within Indian Ocean 
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience with local area network and wide area network administration.
  • Experience with Firewalls, IDS/IPS
