Overall Responsibility
The Head of Department – OTC will oversee the OTC team, providing leadership, support, and direction to achieve departmental goals. This role is essential for ensuring effective communication and coordination between team members, clients, and management. The incumbent will drive team performance, manage stakeholder relationships, and contribute to business growth through strategic sales and marketing initiatives.
Performs – inter alia – the following duties:
- Sales Strategy and Management
- Develop and implement strategies to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance, taking corrective actions when necessary.
- Drive innovative initiatives to expand the product portfolio and increase market share.
- Provide product demonstrations to support sales targets.
- Marketing and Sales Initiatives
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute effective marketing strategies.
- Assist in creating and distributing marketing materials such as brochures, newsletters, and social media content.
- Identify new potential clients and support sales through follow-ups and presentations.
- Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth.
- Team Leadership and Coordination
- Lead, train, and supervise the OTC team, ensuring that goals and objectives are met.
- Act as a liaison between internal departments, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication.
- Support the recruitment, training, and onboarding of new staff members.
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment within the team.
- Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Understand customer needs and provide exceptional customer service.
- Manage and resolve customer complaints and technical issues promptly.
- Field Work and Client Engagement
- Regularly visit customers and relevant departments to maintain relationships and gather feedback.
- Monitor competitor activities and assess market dynamics to identify potential business opportunities.
- Stock and Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels to ensure continuous availability of fast-moving products.
- Manage the replenishment of stock and highlight products with short expiry dates.
- Maintain consignment registers and ensure accurate inventory tracking.
- Compliance and Policies
- Ensure adherence to company policies, including ethical standards, legal requirements, and ISO procedures.
- Promote a culture of integrity and compliance with all local and international regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
- A tertiary qualification in a related field such as science, marketing, or business.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in OTC sales or a similar field, ideally within the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated experience in sales and marketing roles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software.

- Detailed product knowledge in dermatology and cosmetology.
