The Estimator (Electrical) is a professional responsible for determining the costs associated with electrical construction projects. They work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure accurate estimates for both materials and labour.

 

The Estimator is a professional responsible for determining the costs associated with electrical construction projects. They work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure accurate estimates for both materials and labor, helping to set budgets for projects, from new builds to renovations. Below list of duties:

  • Develop & maintain good business relationships with stakeholders by marketing the company’s services to existing and potential clients
  • Collaborate to secure contracts and promote the Contracting business
  • Be responsible for the preparation of BoQs for Design & Build projects under the supervision of the Senior Engineer
  • Participate in tender design requirements
  • Prepare tenders and quotations for Mauritius and any other territories
  • Liaison with Client's consultants and local/foreign suppliers for queries, quotes and technical matters
  • Collaborate with the QS Department to review tender conditions and Manage risks
  • Assist in sourcing new suppliers
  • Prepare alternative offers and value engineering proposals to the Client to be more competitive
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits for preparation of tenders as and when required
  • Prepare & submit tender follow up reports to Management on a fortnightly basis or any other frequency as required by Management
  • Follow up of submitted tenders with consultants for updates
  • Attend tender negotiation meetings as and when required
  • Maintain cost database by entering and backing up data
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending workshops and self-learning
  • Collaborate with colleagues for packaged offers
  • Submit tenders at Consultants' and Clients' premises as and when required
  • Participate in working sessions for the implementation/upgrade of any new softwares/ERP systems
  • Make effective use of softwares/ERP systems
  • Ensure that eventual contract award amounts are correct
  • Make use of any e-procurement system for uploading tenders as applicable
  • Carry out any other cognate duties as may be assigned by Management
