Driver - Conciergerie

The Driver is responsible to achieve and maintain the highest standard of guest care and maximum guest satisfaction in providing transports for Constance Belle Mare Plage Hotel’s guests.

Job Summary:

The Driver ensures the smooth and efficient arrangement for guests demand, like transport to desired destinations, as per the set standard of the hotel. Assists in achieving and maintaining the smooth, efficient and professional running of the Drivers duties at all times.

Closely communicate and co-ordinate with the Head Porter in order to avoid delays for guests’ transfers.

He is fully responsible of the day-to-day operation of transport department during the absence of Head Porter.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and duties for this position shall include, but not limited to the following areas and activities. At management discretion, direction may be given for tasks outside the scope of work described.

• Achieve and maintain the highest standard of guest care, and maximum satisfaction about the Transport Service.
• Ensure the successful seamless check-in and checkout.
• Ensure the smooth, efficient and professional process of all duties and jobs passed on to you.
• Assist in that you are fully trained in the set standards of guest care and operational techniques and demonstrate your application.
• Ensure the negotiated rates fall within agreed structure. Anomalies to be agreed with Head Porter.
• Ensure that all arrivals or departures are handled properly, fast and with efficiency and that you assist with guest’s luggage whenever required.
• Ensure you adhere to all driving regulations and law of Mauritius and you drive at any time carefully and defensively.
• Ensure that all group arrivals are prepared and handled with maximum efficiency, and the luggage gets to the rooms as quickly as possible.
• Ensure that you receive a complete handover from the previous shift before they go off duty and you follow up all necessary guest requirements, messages, wishes and complaints, professionally.
• Ensure the professional and efficient communication with the Porters to avoid any delay for our guests.
• Take care of any vehicle you drive and ensure the impeccable cleanliness. Adhere to the cleaning schedule given by the Front Office and report any damage immediately to the Head Porter.
• Ensure that you are usefully busy, work disciplined at all times and that entrance, desks and storerooms are kept impeccably clean at all times.
• Ensure that all messages are delivered immediately and correctly, if so required by your Superior.
• Ensure that guest’s left luggage is administered and stored professionally and the book is kept up to date.
• Ensure that all equipment used is handled properly, carefully and is kept in clean condition, during your shift that includes assigned vehicles etc.
• Ensure that any fault of equipment is reported to the Technical Department by written request, immediately.
• Have a precise knowledge of all systems and software installed within your operation and demonstrate applied skills.
• Ensure at all times, that all porters and drivers duties relating to local government legislation and company registration are maintained and that the Police requirements via the system are fulfilled.
• Ensure that you have a solid understanding of Mauritius roads and locations, main buildings, general locations and happenings.

Candidate profile:

Qualification:

• Middle or Secondary Education + Additional  training or certificates in the relevant field is a plus.

Experience:

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in hotel industry.
• Proven experience working in a top luxury resorts.
• Experience working in remote island locations is a plus.

Technical skills:

• A valid driver’s license.
• A clean driving record.
• Minimum visual acuity of 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50).
• Familiarity with GPS devices.
• Knowledge of area roads and neighbourhoods.
• Ability to lift heavy packages and luggage.
• Availability to occasionally take weekend and night shift.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations.
• Fluency in English or another language, written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of a third language is a plus.
