The Computer technician will provide support in ensuring that the software, hardware and network of the organisation are operational at all times.

Salary: Rs 20,000 – Rs 35,000
Duration: Contractual basis for two years, may be considered for permanent and pensionable establishment upon satisfactory completion of contractual employment
Qualifications: • A Diploma in Computer Science or engineering from a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.
• Certified in one or more of A+, Linux+, MCSA and CCNA
Experience:
At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
Knowledge and Skills:
Candidates should –
• Have sound experience in troubleshooting systems and networks
• Be skilled in database programming and software installation
• Be proficient with MAC and OS
• Have excellent written and oral communication skills
• Be familiar with a range of software and hardware
Candidates should produce written evidence of experience/knowledge claimed.
Duties:
To be responsible to the Systems Administrator for the technical aspects of their duties namely to:
1. Inspect and connect new IT equipment.
2. Configure systems and install and update systems and applications software.
3. Install and configure security software such as firewalls and anti-virus tools.
4. Install, configure and troubleshoot Internet connections
5. Connect computers to wired and wireless local area networks.
6. Test new systems to ensure that they are in working order.
7. Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and related software problems.
8. Keep records of maintenance work and repairs.
9. Install, operate and maintain network services, routers, concentrators, hubs, switches, modems and other network devices following technical plans.
10. Resolve network communications problems.
11. Respond to user questions and explain the operation of network applications and IT equipment.
12. Assist in the maintenance of standards and documentation.
13. Install and configure hardware and software components.
14. Repair or replace damaged hardware.
15. Upgrade systems to enable compatible software.
16. Assist in servers and database management.
17. Monitoring and reporting on Network Management and Ticketing Management.
18. Perform tests on new hardware and software.
19. Define software, hardware and network requirements.
20. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
21. Perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected for the Computer Technician in the roles ascribed to him/her.
NOTE
The Computer Technician may be required to work outside normal working hours, including Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
