Chief Financial Officer

provides operational and programmatic support to the Company. supervises the finance unit and is the chief Financial Spokesperson for the Company. Reports to the Chief Operating Officer & Executive Director

 

Direct Responsibilities:

  • Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organisation’s mission and help execute staff succession and growth plans.
  • Assist in formulating the Company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
  • Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans.
  • Develop financial strategies.
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting processes. Follow financial budget set by the Company and ensure compliance.
  • Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team.
  • Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team.
  • Manage the accounting, legal, tax, and treasury and warehousing departments.
  • Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies and foreign operations.
  • Oversee employee benefits plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package.
  • Report financial results to the board of directors.
  • Risk Management.
  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the Company’s risk profile.
  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Ensure that the Company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirement of auditors and government agencies.
  • Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.
  • Fundings.
  • Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts.
  • Maintain banking relationships.
  • Represent the Company with investment bankers and investors.
  • Train the finance unit and other staff on raising awareness and knowledge of financial management matters.
  • To be involved in employee appraisal along with HR and ensure appraisal are effected based on which remunerations are provided.
  • Implement cost savings measures in the Company.
  • Any other cognate duties as may be assigned to you by the management.

Qualifications

  • A first degree in Accounting and Finance is desirable.
  • Must be member of an International recognised accounting body with post qualification experience of 10 years at managerial level.
  • Preferable prior experience with senior management role in a manufacturing/ trading organisation

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to develop financial strategies and plans for growth.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data, able to handle limited time-complex tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills
  • Experience with financial software.
