Seeking a Business Development Officer to drive growth in the South African market for credit rating services.
Our client in the Credit Rating industry is looking to recruit a Business Development professional with an extensive client base in the market.
The role will focus on developing business for ratings across a range of instruments, including bonds, debentures, commercial paper, bank deposits, structured finance, term loans, and working capital limits.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Generation and Market Expansion:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with financial institutions, corporations, and other potential clients who may benefit from our credit rating services.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to drive market penetration and expand our client base across different sectors (e.g., banking, insurance, corporations, municipal bonds, etc.).
- Research and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities for business growth.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers and senior executives within prospective and existing client organizations.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering expert advice and solutions related to credit ratings, financial products, and services.
- Oversee the client onboarding process, ensuring smooth communication and a positive experience from initial contact through service delivery.
Sales and Revenue Growth:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets.
- Prepare and present proposals, pricing, and service offerings to potential clients, ensuring they align with client needs and objectives.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to craft compelling value propositions and create tailored sales materials for various client segments.
Collaboration with Internal Teams:
- Work closely with the ratings and analytical teams to ensure that client needs are accurately
understood and met. - Collaborate with the legal, compliance, and finance teams to ensure that contracts and agreements
are structured in compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
Reporting and Market Intelligence:
- Monitor and track business development activities, pipeline status, and sales performance.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on progress towards sales goals, market insights, and competitive analysis.
- Attend industry conferences, seminars, and networking events to represent the agency and gain insights into market trends.
Education:
- Post Graduate degree in Finance / Banking / Business Administration/Economics/Accounting or a business-related field, additional qualifications will be beneficial.
Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or relationship management within the financial services or credit ratings industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing client relationships and achieving sales targets.
- Strong understanding of credit ratings, financial markets, and related products and services.
- Experience working with senior executives and decision-makers.
