We are seeking a friendly, skilled, and customer-oriented Barista to join our team. The Barista will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee beverages, as well as providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, and other specialty drinks.
- Attention to details while taking orders such as preferences of coffee blends, dairy and sugar ratios
- Operate coffee machines and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ability to follow recipes
- Provide exceptional customer service, engaging with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all areas meet health and safety standards.
- Manage customer orders accurately and in a timely manner.
- Process payments using a cash register or point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Serve beverages and prepared food such as toasties, paninis and pastries
- Ability to make mocktails, smoothies and milkshakes
- Ability to maintain hygiene and safety measures while operating brewing equipment
- Ensure proper stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other necessary supplies.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and resolve issues promptly.
- Collaborate with other team members to maintain a smooth and efficient service flow.
- Communicate customer feedback to line manager
- Follow company policies and procedures, including those related to health, safety, and cleanliness.
- Upsell menu items and promote seasonal or special offers to customers.
- Keep up to date with new coffee trends and techniques.
- Comply with health and safety regulations
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a barista or in a customer service / hospitality industry role is preferred but not required.
- Hands-on experience on brewing and making of coffee
- Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, espresso machines, and coffee-related equipment is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
- Friendly, positive attitude with a passion for coffee.
- Basic math skills to handle cash and process payments.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy bags of coffee beans or supplies.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Valid or expired food handlers certificate
- Minimum SC or HSC as educational qualifications
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Work in close proximity to food and beverages.
- Possible exposure to loud noises and varying temperatures from equipment.
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment, as well as independently.
