Adecco is an International HR and Consultancy firm. Our client, in the shipping and logistic sector, is looking for an Assistant Operation Logistics.

 

Our client, in the shipping and logistic sector, is looking for an Assistant Operation Logistics.

Reporting to the Cluster Operations and Logistics Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible to prepare and handle vessel calls and transhipments with due care according to internal procedures and international / local regulations in terms of compliance, safety and security.

Main responsibilities:

Handle transhipment in Port Louis

  • Ensure connection of transhipment in Port Louis on to planned vessel in respect with provided allocation and timeline set by the principals.
  • Ensure system updates properly done for all transhipment within his area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for proper port and customs documentation and arrangement of transfers where and when required.

Handle logistics administrative tasks and documentation

  • Execute evacuation of empty boxes as per plans instructed by the principals (this includes customs documentation, arrangement of transfers, booking and system handling)
  • Organize/attend inspections and surveys where necessary.
  • Conduct physical inventories within the depots.
  • Assist the logistics team in providing sound and safe equipments to customers by proper follow up of depots activities.

Assist Operations agents in the preparation, coordination and reporting of vessel call in his ports:

  • Attend port meetings.
  • Assist the team to coordinate arrival, berthing operations and departure with all internal and external stakeholders (incl. vessel boarding).
  • Arrange booking of all services and equipment required for the incoming vessels.
  • Ensure respect of rules and regulations regarding IMO, Reefers, OOG and Special cargo and ensure proper documentation submitted timely to ports and authorities.
  • Ensure the backup of main operational agent and other colleagues during their absence.

Qualification:

  • Bsc or any other equivalent qualification in Logistics.
  • Experience in Shipping and logistics is an advantage.

Candidate profile:

  • Familiar with customs processes;
  • Knowledge in claims handling is an advantage but not a requirement;
  • Microsoft office and web based programs;
  • Basic understanding of shipping industry and network (advantage);
  • Basic understanding of customs procedures (advantage);
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal, English and French;
  • Interpersonal skills;
  • Attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Analytical and problem solving;
  • Willing to work odd hours;
  • Adaptability and tolerance to stress.
