Prepares Mise en Place of food, as per instructions of superiors; Assists superior in the cooking process, in line with standards in terms of hygiene, quality, quantity, timing and costs;

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives instructions from supervisors on work program to take cognizance of types and quantity of meals to be prepared;
  • Picks up items as per superior’s instructions, stores them in the kitchen store room and cold rooms;
  • Prepares Mise en Place of food, as per instructions of superiors;
  • Assists superior in the cooking process, in line with standards in terms of hygiene, quality, quantity, timing and costs;
  • Dresses plates, participates in buffet decoration, set-up and cleanliness;
  • Serves and advises guests in their choice;
  • Maintains and complies with hygienic standards and practices within the Kitchen areas.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFILE

  • School Certificate or equivalent;
  • A NC Level 3 in Kitchen operations from Mauritius Institute of Training and Development or equivalent;
  • Previous working experience would be an advantage;
  • Good communication and organisational skills;
  • Should possess a pleasant and outgoing personality;
  • Be health and safety conscious and conversant with HACCP requirements to ensure compliance thereof at work;
  • Able and willing to perform odd hours of work including Sundays, public holidays and cyclonic days;
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and French.
