Prepares Mise en Place of food, as per instructions of superiors;
Assists superior in the cooking process, in line with standards in terms of hygiene, quality, quantity, timing and costs;
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receives instructions from supervisors on work program to take cognizance of types and quantity of meals to be prepared;
- Picks up items as per superior’s instructions, stores them in the kitchen store room and cold rooms;
- Prepares Mise en Place of food, as per instructions of superiors;
- Assists superior in the cooking process, in line with standards in terms of hygiene, quality, quantity, timing and costs;
- Dresses plates, participates in buffet decoration, set-up and cleanliness;
- Serves and advises guests in their choice;
- Maintains and complies with hygienic standards and practices within the Kitchen areas.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFILE
- School Certificate or equivalent;
- A NC Level 3 in Kitchen operations from Mauritius Institute of Training and Development or equivalent;
- Previous working experience would be an advantage;
- Good communication and organisational skills;
- Should possess a pleasant and outgoing personality;
- Be health and safety conscious and conversant with HACCP requirements to ensure compliance thereof at work;
- Able and willing to perform odd hours of work including Sundays, public holidays and cyclonic days;
- Fluent in written and spoken English and French.
