The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing field operations, ensuring efficiency, and meeting financial and operational goals within the assigned region. The role involves managing resources, teams, and agricultural practices to achieve optimal outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Ensure optimal operational efficiency and financial performance within the assigned area.
  • Propose enhancements, adjustments, and improved agricultural practices to maximize field performance.
  • Uphold and ensure adherence to quality standards and production specifications.
  • Conduct thorough and consistent monitoring of field activities.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate cane cultivation activities in alignment with the annual budget.
  • Supervise field operations to ensure staff and workers perform efficiently and effectively.
  • Assess and manage agricultural factors impacting cane cultivation, such as pests, diseases, market trends, soil conditions, weather, and production requirements.
  • Control section expenditures, ensuring adherence to the approved annual budget.
  • Oversee and organize the use, maintenance, and deployment of agricultural machinery and equipment in field activities.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, health and safety regulations, legal requirements, and environmental policies.
  • Formulate strategies and provide insights to support the successful implementation of new projects.
  • Collaborate closely with the Agronomist.
  • Stay updated on developments and advancements in the agricultural sector.

People Management:

  • Supervise lower-grade employees through regular planning and work scheduling.
  • Recommend and oversee the training of personnel under your responsibility.
  • Monitor security and ensure high standards of safety at the workplace.

Minimum Experience Requirements:

  • At least 4-5 years of working experience in a similar role within the agricultural sector.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or a related field.
  • A Postgraduate qualification or Master's degree will be an added advantage.
