Accounting Executive ( Junior)
Fairfax Mauritius is looking to recruit dynamic and highly motivated individuals to strengthen its existing team based in Maeva Tower, Ebene.   Fairfax Mauritius is part of Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited (“Fairfax”), a listed multinational group based in Canada.  Our office handles investments, financial reporting, compliance and administration matters for the Fairfax subsidiaries based in Mauritius.

        Main responsibilities

  • Preparing and posting journals on a monthly basis.
  • Preparing the financial reports (i.e. including investor reports) on a monthly basis using the Group’s financial reporting systems;
  • Preparing bank instructions and monitor the receipts and payments.
  • Preparation of annual financial statements and periodic management reports in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
  • Assist in the day-to-day administration, including liaison with company secretary, external auditors and other stakeholder.
  • Assist in AML/CFT compliance matters – CDD checks, prepare compliance report for Compliance Officer and MLRO.
  • Complete surveys received from regulators (i.e. FSC, Bank of Mauritius, etc)
  • Assist in the preparation of tax computation.
  • Maintaining good relationship with team members and service providers.
  • Carrying out ad-hoc tasks as directed by your immediate line manager

           Key requirements:

 

  •  A degree in Finance / Accounting or equivalent.  Graduates that recently completed their tertiary education are encouraged to apply.
  • Partly or fully qualified ACCA or intending to start ACCA program within the next 12 months.
  • Having prior work experience (e.g internship) in an accounting / auditing field would be an advantage.
  • Proficient in MS office applications (Word and Excel). 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proactive, self-driven with positive attitude.
  • Analytical, well organised, meticulous and resourceful.
  • Hard-working, able to work beyond normal office hours as circumstances dictate.
  • Available to start employment at short notice will be an advantage.
