Our client in the insurance sector is seeking to recruit an Accountant who will report to the Finance Manager. The incumbent will perform a central role in a finance team, focusing on preparing a company's financial reports.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Preparation of accurate and timely reports including financial statements, monthly income statements and balance sheets.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with management to develop budgets and financial forecasts based on historical data, industry trends and strategic goals.
- Monitor budgetary performance throughout the year, identify deviations and recommend corrective actions to ensure financial targets are met.
- Prepare periodic reports to compare budget v/s actual figures.
Cash flow management:
- Manage cash flow efficiently, monitor and forecast cash flows, and maintain bank relationships.
Overseeing accounts payable:
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions related to accounts payable while maintaining strong relationship with vendors/insurers/internal stakeholders.
- Implementing and enforcing accounts payable policies, procedures and control.
Internal Controls:
- Develop and maintain effective internal control procedures to safeguard assets, ensure compliance with regulations, and mitigate fraud risks.
Audit support:
- Assist internal and external auditors in conducting audits of financial policies, procedures, and controls.
- Provides documentation, explanations, and evidence to support audit findings and recommendations.
Profiles:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- A professional qualification in Accounting and/or finance is an advantage.
- At least 5 to 10 years’ experience in a similar position.
- Ethical and trustworthy.

- Strong analytical, problem solving, numerical and logical reasoning skills.
- Practical understanding of financial and accounting principles.
- Ability to take decisions and work independently.

- Good computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
