The Survey clerk will liaise with the different authorities for the survey operation in the port.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Liaise with Cargo Handling, MPA, other authorities and Service providers when survey is done in the port area.
- Reply to principals/insurers promptly in order to secure our appointment.
- Build relationships with consignees, insurers, principals.
- Liaise with the Shipping lines, Freight forwarders, consignee after appointment and arrange joint survey of goods.
- Collect all requested documents, (e.g. Commercial Invoice, Insurance Certificate, Bill of Lading, Packing List, etc..) from consignee and prepare individual file.
- Prepare documents related to survey of goods, e.g. Pro-forma Invoice, checklist and log sheet.
- Prepare preliminary survey report and send to principals after approval.
- Handle claim adjustment procedures with all supporting documents and photos for insurance claim.
- Attend unstuffing of container at FOM premises and issue report within 24h.
- Ensure follow-up and attend to queries.
- Assist in any cognate duties of the department.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Higher School Certificate or any acceptable qualifications by the Management.
- Minimum 1 year experience in similar position.
- Knowledge of Shipping & Logistics would be an advantage.
- Computer literate (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
- Ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong personality with excellent communication skills in both English and French.
- Should be creative, team player, proactive, resourceful and demonstrate professionalism.
- Be dynamic and with a ‘Can Do’ attitude.
- Ready to work odd hours and during week ends/public holidays.
- Holder of valid driving license for motorcycle and car.
