The Planning & Cost Control Engineer will be responsible for project scheduling, cost estimation, budgeting, cash flow management, and tender documentation. The role also requires integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for accurate quantity take-offs and collaboration with design teams.
Develop, update, and maintain detailed construction schedules using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
Define project milestones, resource loading, critical path analysis, and progress tracking
Coordinate with site teams and subcontractors to ensure schedule adherence and mitigate delays
Generate weekly and monthly progress reports for management and clients
Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) using architectural and engineering drawings or BIM models
Perform accurate quantity take-offs using Revit and other BIM tools
Assist in the preparation and review of tender documentation and procurement packages
Monitor project budgets, actual costs, and committed costs in real-time
Develop and maintain project cash flow forecasts and cost-to-complete assessments
Perform cost variance analysis and recommend corrective actions when necessary
Prepare and submit interim payment applications, monitor client certifications, and follow up on payments
Identify, prepare, and substantiate variation orders and claims in accordance with contract terms
Assist the project management team in resolving contractual and commercial issues
Liaise with consultants, clients, and internal teams to ensure full documentation and compliance
Use Revit models to coordinate design intent with planning and quantity surveying
Extract construction data from BIM models to support costing, planning, and procurement
Collaborate with architects, MEP, and structural teams to detect clashes and update project sequencing
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry
Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Revit (BIM) is mandatory
Solid knowledge of construction contracts (FIDIC, NEC, or equivalent)
Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail
Good understanding of local construction practices, material rates, and procurement procedures
Effective communicator with strong reporting and documentation skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
