We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Financial Accountant to join our multi-sector group of companies. This role is pivotal to supporting the Group’s strategic decision-making, financial compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Oversight
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and budget reports for the group of companies.
- Coordinate and prepare annual financial statements; manage external audit process.
- Provide strategic financial insights to the executive team through analysis of trends, performance, and key financial indicators.
- Compliance, Taxation & Treasury
- Ensure timely submission of VAT, TDS, and other statutory returns across entities.
- Manage cash flow, treasury functions, and prepare cash flow forecasts to support financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, regulatory frameworks, and corporate governance requirements.
- Team Leadership & Controls
- Lead and mentor the accounting team to maintain accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery of financial information.
- Strengthen and oversee internal controls, financial procedures, and reporting processes.
- Design and implement financial policies and procedures to improve system efficiency and risk mitigation.
- Operational Finance & Cost Management
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure optimal working capital.
- Lead cost accounting functions including product costing, pricing support, and stock reconciliation.
- Collaborate with the Cost Management Unit and Commercial Team to support margin management and pricing strategy.
- Strategic Projects & Special Reporting
- Support actuarial reporting processes in collaboration with the appointed actuary.
- Assist in the development and implementation of financial systems improvements.
- Contribute to cross-functional business strategy and planning initiatives across the Group.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a similar role (multi-entity group experience advantageous).
- Fully qualified ACCA/CPA/CA or equivalent.
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and system skills (QuickBooks, Xero, ERP systems).
- Strong grasp of Mauritian tax laws and regulatory requirements.
- Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring junior accounting staff.
- Strong business acumen and ability to contribute to high-level strategy.
- Exceptional attention to detail, integrity, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
