He is responsible for overseeing the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials within an organization. They play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of supply chains, reducing waste, and ensuring that all materials are available when needed.
- Manage the procurement of materials, goods, and services necessary for production and operations.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the timely delivery of materials.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure stock availability based on production schedules.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and negotiate pricing and delivery terms.
- Oversee inventory levels and ensure efficient storage of materials.
- Track material usage and consumption to optimize stock levels.
- Develop and implement inventory management procedures to reduce waste and enhance storage efficiency.
- Perform regular stock audits and reconciliation of physical inventory with system records.
- Ensure materials are safely stored and properly handled to prevent damage or loss.
- Analyze production needs to forecast material requirements.
- Work closely with the production or operations teams to align material availability with demand.
- Prepare material forecasts and maintain supply chain continuity
- Ensure that all materials and procurement processes comply with company policies, legal regulations, and industry standards.
- Promote and enforce safety procedures for handling materials, especially hazardous or perishable items.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, orders, and supplier contracts.
- Prepare and present reports on material status, procurement costs, and supply chain performance to management.
- Analyze and report on material costs, helping the company to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Background: A degree/diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: 2-4 years in material management, logistics, or supply chain roles. Prior experience in managing inventory or procurement processes is preferred.
