Our client in the banking sector is recruiting a Specialist – Finance

 Role purpose:

The role holder will report to the Team Leader – Finance or any Senior Officer and be primarily responsible for performing Management Information related activities, whilst ensuring quality delivery.

Principal Accountabilities:

Impact on the Business/Function [complete 3-4 areas]

  • To be reliable, accountable and work according to strategies
  • To assist in the preparation of reports to CEO and EXCO members
  • Supporting key governance forums by providing relevant reporting and analysis and administrative matters;

  • Supporting the recommendations and requirements for improvements in management reporting;
  • Contribute in the design, development, delivery, maintenance and communication of performance reporting;

Leadership and Teamwork

  • To help colleagues, build relationships and cooperate with others to deliver what is right and ensure transparency

Customers/Stakeholders

  • To help customers and address any necessary bureaucracy or processes that will aid in customer service and increase performance

Operational Effectiveness/Control

  • Prepare and validate financial and management data for key stakeholder reporting purposes;
  • Perform various analyses to track businesses' performance, and act as a business partner to assist them in meeting their strategic objectives;
  • Collaborate effectively with Finance team members, and Executive Committee (EXCO) members and delegates, in preparing reports and presentations for the businesses and support functions, Management and Board committees;
  • Supporting key governance forums by providing relevant reporting and analysis and administrative matters;
  • Actively participate in the budgetary process and control, and in forecasting exercises;
  • Contribute in the design, development, delivery, maintenance and communication of performance reporting;
  • Respond to regular and adhoc data and report requests from key finance and non finance stakeholders;
  • Interpret and implement guidelines issued by regulatory authorities as well as adhering to internal bank's frameworks;
  • Assist in ad-hoc assignments and projects;
  • Ensure control processes are in place to maintain data integrity;
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors as and when required;
  • Ensure compliance with acts and regulations;
  • Ensure internal policies are amended on a timely basis;
  • Ensure proper filing and archiving of documents in respect of responsibilities allocated.

Knowledge, Experience / Qualifications and Competencies

  • A Degree in Finance/Accounting/Banking or a Professional Finance qualification;
  • At least 4 years of relevant working experience, preferably in the financial services sector;
