The Lead Payroll Specialist must ensure the delivery of quality payroll services and activities and is also actively involved in providing support to Team Leader in the ongoing project day to day operations and people management.

 

Summary: The purpose of this role is to: 

 

  • Leads and manages team members to achieve the delivery of service excellence
  • Assists in the setting and measurement of individual and team objectives
  • Participates in the identification of skills needs
  • Supports in the organization or provision of appropriate training to enable team members to make the required contribution to business objectives. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Works on complex issues and may work cross-functionally to define new solutions or procedures
  • Provides day-to-day work direction and guidance to associates and seniors
  • Ensures subordinates have the required tools to perform
  • Manages KPIs
  • Stakeholder management – Proactively highlights risks Establishes metrics to drive continuous improvement of work area(s).
  • Establishes and maintains effective internal and external communication channels to ensure the availability and dissemination (where appropriate) of relevant information 
  • Subject matter expert in their process
  • Provides support and training as and when required
  • Ensures that complaints are proactively managed to a resolution, with root cause analysis of defects and issues carried out
  • Has frequent interaction with internal and external contacts which may include resolution of high-level sensitive transactional issues (e.g. under or over payment). 

 

Additional Responsibilities: 

 

  • Maintains and updates process documentation and ensure that the procedures are understood and followed.
  • Deputizes as and when necessary for the Team Leader/Manager – this includes liaison and responses to manager’s requests, working side by side with the other seniors/leads. Degree of Independence/Supervision required
  • Requires minimal process level supervision on the job – no instructions given for routine work
  • Escalates exceptions to the Team leader/Manager promptly. 

 

 Competencies: 

 

  • Full knowledge of the job and understanding its detailed aspect 
  • Presentation/training skills
  • Quality management (error logs, RCAs, action plans, follow ups)
  • Knowledge of process methodology and ability to develop and improve process

 

 Experience:  • At least 1 to 2 years of experience as an senior
