Head of Credit & Risk

Serves as a member of the executive team, with Credit , Compliance and Risk Portfolio as main area of responsibility.

 

CREDIT GRANTING

  • Development, implementation ,review and monitoring of various credit scorecards and providing training and coaching to continuously upgrade the competency of the sales and operations team members regarding the credit application process
  • Review .develop and adjust the company’s credit approval policies and guidelines
  • Responsible for the review and approval of commercial , individual as well as corporate credit proposals in such a way as to maintain a good balance between returns and risks exposure in TCAP
  • Deliver answers on credit applications within the expected TAT ( Turn Around Time)
  • Record facilities granted and produce daily reports on application activity in each country
  • Ensure high standard credit quality of the company’s book by using various credit assessment tools. Including analysing of bank statements and financial statements with ratios, scorecards, industry comparisons  and local knowledge that differs in each African country where we grant credit

 

ARREAR MANAGEMENT

  • Understand and set out the targets of desired outcomes with arrears accounts levels in each country
  • Train and develop staff in arrear management positions in each country on actions required to control arrear accounts as well as daily report completion
  • Monitor the daily activity report in each country on the arrears accounts and instruct on actions required
  • Liaise with legal representatives on cases needing legal action
  • Suggest and negotiates ways of avoiding losses for TCAP with legal advisors, clients and staff

 

COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT

  • Quarterly visits with audits executed on samples of deals done checked and rated according to standard procedural standards in each country
  • Rating and reporting on audit outcome
  • Action plans and training provided on gaps found

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIREMENTS: 

Post graduate qualification Finance or related field.

10 years or more experience in major financial institutions, of which the last 5 years in credit & risk in asset finance related functions.
Successful track record of credit approvals and recommendations.
Knowledge of Risk Rating Models.
In depth knowledge of Vehicle and Asset Finance Credit Administration, Credit Analysis, and Restructuring.

Managerial experience - requirement to be both a team player and a leader and with substantial experience in managing diverse remote teams.
Strong project management skills and ability to translate desired business concepts to actual processes for implementation.
Articulation and presentation skills required both in the preparation of policies / strategies & presentation of the same to the Executive Committees.

Understanding of the purpose of legal documentation and terms and conditions of the sales and instalment sale type contracts of company’s products.                                                                 

Knowledge of financial statements and cash flow analysis, industry/market credit research, liens, bonds and guarantees.
