Database Administrator

Main Purpose: The job incumbent may perform installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery.
Main Duties:
- Installing and upgrading the database server and application tools;
- Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system;
- Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers;
- Enrolling users and maintaining system security;
- Ensuring compliance with database vendor license agreement;
- Controlling and monitoring user access to the database;
- Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database;
- Planning for backup and recovery of database information;
- Maintaining archived data;
- Backing up and restoring databases;
- Generating various reports by querying from database as per need
Profile of the Candidate:
- Holder of a Bsc (Hons) in Computer Science / Information System or equivalent;
- At least 1-2 years experience in a relevant position;
- Young graduate with a forward looking personality;
- Technical ability to help in the implementation, maintenance and support of a database system;
- Good time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines;
- A keen eye for details;
- Good communication and people skills with ability to train end-users
Basic Salary Range: MUR 15,000- 20,000
