The R&D team is looking for a Data Scientist that will help us expose the information hidden in vast amounts of customer data, and help us design better products. Your primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction systems integrated with our HCM products.

Responsibilities:

As a member of the R&D team, you will:

• Contribute in defining and building features, creating and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques to unearth actionable insights for Dayforce HCM customers
• Analyze, and mine data to unearth trends
• Develop data pipelines with automated, machine-learning systems that convert large source datasets into actionable insights
• Use your deep expertise with machine learning techniques and algorithms: decision trees, penalized regressions, boosting, model ensembling, model stacking, and other methods of contemporary predictive analytics.
• Craft new algorithms and learning systems to detect new data insights
• Automate time series analysis and forecasting for a variety of important business and operational metrics
• Craft new algorithms and learning systems to detect new data insights, trends and outliers
• Provide analytical consulting to internal staff on best practices and approaches for insights and analysis
• Verify the integrity of data used for analysis and quantify accuracy of predictive results across multiple models

The ideal candidates will show a proven ability to:

• See the “big picture” and how your work relates to Dayforce HCM’s entire business
• Present & explain complex algorithms and results in a clear manner for non-technical audiences
• Advocate, evangelize and build data-fuelled products that help our customers convert large source datasets into actionable insights
• Show an understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.
• Be able work with common data science toolkits, principally R Language, but similar tools/techniques will be considered including Python
• Use and recommend data visualisation tools, such as D3.js, GGplot, etc.
• Automate and program solutions
• Use SQL query language on common relational databases such as SQL Server and Oracle
• Apply rich statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills

Qualifications:

• University Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
• Industry experience as a Data Scientist / Data Engineer / Machine-Learning Engineer or demonstrated ability to drive value through data science projects
• Deep understanding of fundamental statistics
• Proven knowledge of experiment design and hypothesis testing on an
  industry project including architectural design
• Familiarity with data mining and distributed machine learning
• Proficiency with standard SQL and relational databases;
• Familiarity with R and it’s data science/machine learning packages
• Comfortable working independently on large projects (demonstrated via industry or academic experience) or as part of a diverse team of different skills as necessary
